Choir Songs for Divine Service - Missa Apostolica. For solo, choir and organ. By Klaus Michael Fruth. First performance by the NAC Stuttgart chamber choir will take place on Sunday, June 27th, 2010 in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. The conductor will be Jens Paulus. From the preface: This collection of choir pieces for celebrating divine service on a sunday was created for a concert on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the composer. Music has been kept brief and simple, so that the individual pieces may be performed in service on their own as well. They are based on old and biblical texts belonging to all Christian denominations. The tone language in it is moderately modern, so that church choirs with laymen musicians will have little trouble, the organ is supporting in the decisive moments. At the same time the composition adopts, with some awareness for history, certain traditions drawing from many Christian sources and denominations. [...]This booklet contains all songs for the Sunday service, in the way it was celebrated on the grounds of the Liturgy of the Allgemeine christliche apostolische Mission; later, the New Apostolic Church developed from the AcaM. The text used comes from the 1864 Liturgy. All songs and texts also conform to the modern ecumenical versions, so that the pieces are not limited to concert use. They may find their use in the most different denominations for service.
