Klaus Michael Fruth : Partita about "Triumph, Triumph dem Lamme" (Bonlanden Partita). The partita was composed on the occasion of the dedication of the New Apostolic Church in Filderstadt, Bonlanden congregation. It premiered on 25th July, 2009. The melody of the choral theme could be used for numerous variations, more would have been possible as well. The text of the chorale was not in the foreground, the composer was mainly interested in the 'constructional possibilities'. At the beginning of the partita stands the chorale with its own, traditional harmonies. The first variation is being made up of imitating choral lines. In the second variation, the choral melody is embedded in a cantilena with oriental effect. The third variation shows a dancing character in 5/4 meter. The choral melody in both parallel higher voices appears, at the same time, in the parallel lower voices; the third choral line is being conducted in an imitating way. The fourth variation consists of a single-voiced, free-floating chain of eighth notes, where the notes of the choral melody are being held longer in irregular order; under the final tone of every choral line, downwards-directed sounds appear, having an interesting intensity of color. Variation 5 comes close to a gospel song, the melody has been rythmically adjusted accordingly. The reversal of the choral melody in variation 6 and the Krebs (horizontal reflection) of the reversed melody in variation 7 result in meaningful melodies as well. In variation 8, the choral melody may be partly heard unchanged in the bass, above that, crashing and arpeggio-like sounds are being created. The last variation, again, takes the chorale, offsetting harmonies in the accompanying voices by two quarters, partly forwards, partly backwards. The harmonic itself remains unchainged.
