Dietmar Korthals was born in Dortmund in 1971. As a seven-year-old he had his first piano lessons. 1987 he won a prize at the state competition "Jugend komponiert" [Youth composes]. Image He was active as a lecturer for organist courses in 2001 and 2004 for the Cantus e.V. association, specializing in applied harmonics. His concerts were in the past especially dedicated to the works of Gerard Bunk. He is often being requested by solists and choirs as an accompanying pianist. For several years he worked with confido camerata e vocale directed by Bodo Saborowski. An adaptation of the chorale "Wie gross ist des Allmaechtgen Guete" resulted in a contract with Reclam Publishers.

Korthals today is piano teacher and works as an organist at several churches in the Dortmund area.
