This well-known work by Camille Saint-Saëns was developed for chamber orchestra in 1886 and published in 1921 for the first time (posthumously). The present organ adaptation by Alexander Därr is designed for four hands. It will be originally performed at the "Orgelnacht" on the occasion of the dedication of the restored and extended Gewandhaus organ at the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig. Performers will be Edgar Knapp and Gewandhaus organist Michael Schönheit.
