Klaus Michael Fruth

Klaus Michael Fruth, born 1940 in Stuttgart, studied at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart during his training for educational music between 1959 and 1964, subjects being organ (Prof Liedecke), composition (E. Karkoschka) and piano (K. H. Lautner).

Image Later he studied musical sciences (Prof Gerstenberg) and German language and literature at Tübingen (1964 to 1968). After his training he worked as a teacher at the Friedrich Eugens grammar school in Stuttgart, until he retired in August, 2005.

From 1972 to 1992 he produced various organ recordings for the Friedrich Bischoff publishing company at Frankfurt. This included productions in the areas of Württemberg, Baden, Bavaria, Saxony, Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt and Switzerland.

He acted as conductor and organist in spiritual music, and directed trainings in this area as well. Even today, he uses to play the organ at various concerts.

Over 100 of his compositions have been published by the Friedrich Bischoff company. Now he also works with Edition Punctum Saliens (Nürtingen). There, compositions done some time ago are being published as well as more recent works.

His composing style might be described as "moderate modern".

His works are being designed by the tune, so that unnecessary difficulties of performing can be avoided. His works include simple traditional pieces especially interesting for amateur choirs and orchestras, those being performed multiply. Still, every one of his works has a special imprint for itself.
